Healthy Me


The Healthy Me collection highlights ways to encourage children to make healthy choices. Improve physical and mental wellness with activities for children at home, school, and in their communities. These activities help children develop a sense of independence, learn to cooperate with others, value diversity, and apply problem-solving skills.

    Why do we have bones? What do they do? What are they called? This animated video shows how bones are important to everyday tasks and movements. The spine, rib cage, tibia, femur and skull are shown within a body shape. Various parts of the body are featured.

    Mr. Steve from PBS Kids performs "Body All My Own" with the help of some young friends.     Mr. Steve from PBS Kids and his special puppet friend, Silly Vanilly, visit the KET studio to sing the song “With a Friend.” As the song says, it’s fun to do things alone sometimes, but it’s always more fun with a friend.   • Make the Healthy Choice Quiz | Everyday Learning

    "Make the Healthy Choice" quiz is a fun, easy way to assess a young learner’s knowledge of healthy food choices. Students are shown pictures of two different foods and asked which one is the healthy choice. If they make the correct choice, they are verbally praised. If they make an incorrect choice, they are cheerfully asked to try again. Once they have correctly identified the correct choice, they click the forward arrow at the bottom of the page to go on. They can also click on the back arrow to go back and retry ones they missed.

  • Super Smoothie | Everyday Learning

    In this interactive, children choose ingredients for smoothies. Healthy choices are rewarded with “YES!” and an explanation of how the food helps the body, and unhealthy choices are greeted with “NO!” and an explanation of why the food is bad for you. After choosing three healthy ingredients, players can watch Hannah and her dad mix up their smoothie.

    This game from KET has two challenges – hand washing and teeth brushing. In the first challenge, preschool students have 30 seconds to scrub all the dirt off of some pretty filthy hands. In the second challenge, students have two minutes to brush though layers of food and grime until the teeth sparkle.

    This engaging interactive helps children learn that different foods have different tastes. Each time they drag a food such as green apples, watermelon, hot peppers, or olives to the mouth of an animated child, the child describes and reacts to its taste.

  • How Do You Feel Today? | Everyday Learning

    This interactive helps children understand their emotions. Children are presented with scenarios (it’s their birthday, their brother breaks a favorite toy, etc.) and asked to click on one of three icons that represent feeling happy, sad, and angry. If they click on an icon that is not the most appropriate for the scenario, the icon turns red and they choose again.
